RAY’S STORY

Ray began his martial arts journey in1988 by starting Aikido training at Pasadena Aikikai in Pasadena, CA.

Francis Takahashi Sensei (7th dan) was one of Ray's influential sensei.  Equally important,  Yoshimitsu Yamada Sensei (8th dan) left an imprint in Ray's Aikido.

In 2005, Ray became Pasadena Aikikai's Chief Instructor and a few years later he opened Maru Dojo in San Francisco, CA, a sister dojo to Pasadena Aikikai.

Additionally, over the years, while training Aikido, he began training in Filipino Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Maru Dojo is now an official Roy Dean Academy affiliate.

Ray holds a Black Belt in Shorinji Kempo from the  San Francisco Branch headed by Harada Sensei and holds a Black Belt in BJJ.

Maru Dojo is a unique dojo.  Ray sensei connects the dots between Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu and Filipino Martial Arts.
